Default How soon did you start "leaking" ?

Hi ladies, I'm just 13 weeks pregnant with my first bub and in the past few days I've noticed my nipples have been getting a dry, flaky white substance on them.

There's not a lot of it, maybe 5-10 specks on each nipple. I was just wondering if it's normal for your body to start trying to produce colostrum this early? Is there anything I should be doing about it? I normally just wash it off with a soft cloth in the shower as it seems to mostly be happening overnight.

I got it from 14wks and you don't need to do anything about it as it's not a problem, some women get it earlier then others and if you are leaking bad just use breast pads

Yep, I got dry stuff occasionally before pregnancy and it increased about the same time (start of second tri)...I started leaking liquid at about 19 weeks and now I'm 24 weeks it looks like I'm making colostrum.

First I leaked from 12 weeks. Second not till 25 weeks.
It's normal and you don't need to do anything but I used washable breast pads.

I noticed something similar each morning. It would disappear after I showered. Nothing major. No need for pads or anything.

I'm 39 wks tomorrow - still no real change but now if I try, I can express colostrum as well

Thanks ladies that's very reassuring! Sounds like it's just one of those things that happens to some but not all.

DH finds it very amusing! :what:
