I saw a new timber laminate floor get totally ruined by stilletto heals after only a few months. I love timber floors and if they get scratched they can be fixed. I have lived in some houses with timber floors over 100 yrs old and they still looked great.

For 8 years until we moved house we had laminate. A leak in the shower caused some nearby floorboards to bubble and any scratches (eg from furniture scraping) look terrible and hard to disguise.
Our hardwood now looks more beautiful, however if the kids drop a toy or I drop something heavy, it will dent.

Looks like timber it is. Price isn't an issue as either one is covered in our package and we don't save anything for going cheaper
