Default Please help. Idea's for a kid's haunted house

My daughter and her friend have volunteered to run a haunted house at the schools fundraiser. The teacher informed me there would be very limited help from any teachers and that the girls would be responsible for all of the organising. They are in year 6 and full of idea's. But I don't have lots of money to throw at this. Any idea's would be really appreciated.

I remember doing this as a kid - we had trays of yukky feeling stuff to put hands in (could get messy), kids jumping out and scaring others, fake spiders and webs, noises on casettes (so old!) and cardboard box coffins that opened (likely to scare the begeezers out of most people!), torches shining up into makeup faces, a thin 'run through' of black sheeting with different textured things hanging ... I think having it dark and using lighting where possible is great, but could get pricey.

Boxes of 'body parts' that you can feel with hands but not see - peeled grapes (eyeballs), cold oily spaghetti (intestines)... can't think of any others!

Cobwebs made out of cotton balls.

The $2 shops often have good props for this kind of thing.

Thanks for the ideas. Wish it was closer to hallowen so the shops would have more things.
Hopefully I can get inspired by pinterest.
My other concern is safety. I would hate for anyone to get hurt and the girls get into trouble.

Will the haunted house be for just the kids or adults as well?

I remember doing something like this in primary school and we made an obstacle course with the tables and covered it so other kids had to crawl through the dark tunnel.

    Just an idea

I think its aimed more at the kids. Last years mum apparently went all out and had a tunnel and mazes with lots of cool stuff.
