Default 16 weeks and feeling very anxious and want a scan

I really want to hear a heart beat. I'm anxious that something is not right. I have absolutely no reason to feel this way. Can I request a doppler scan to hear a heart beat?

i feel like a hyperchondriac, but i've been so morning sick and miserable, I have headaches and really uncomfortable bloating. I've now been this way for about 11weeks. I'm tired of it!!!

I really want to know that it is all still for a good cause!

Are you going private or public? If private, I am sure your OB would have no problem providing you with a check with the Doppler or a scan for a reassurance. If public, I am sure you can still request a referral from you GP for a scan or at least ask them to check with a Doppler. No harm in asking and being your own advocate! I wouldn't think it's be a problem to at least have a check with the Doppler. Anxiety is the worst right now, especially when you're in that no man's land before you feel movement.

Thanks for your reply. I'm public and will most likely have a high risk preg. (Did with the last 2 and highly likely to recur). Might see if my gp has a Doppler. Was hoping to feel movement by now.

If you're going to be high risk then there should be no problem offering another scan or just the Doppler. Make an appt with your GP, I'm sure something can be done!

thanks everyone. I dont want to get a home doppler for a few reasons. it will feed and justify my anxiety rather than make me be positive. i am not trained to use one and will completely freak if i dont find a heart beat!

I'll prob go to dr at some point. Maybe friday

My GP has a Doppler in her office, she didnt use it at any appointment until I mentioned sharp pains and with having miscarried before she got it straight out and checked. It's worth checking with the GP though. Anxiety is horrible! Hope it's all okay for you
