We are looking at moving... Around Rocky area.
It is a huge move. Tell me about Qld, is it worth it?

We just sold in nsw to buy in qld.
We move next month but the price difference was awesome. We have 2 special needs kids and the education system appears to be way better!!!
Dh got moved with work but apparently finding work isn't easy up there, but the weather is awesome and the atmosphere is great! (I like to have a beer with Duncan... Blah blah, lol)
We think its well worth it.

Can i ask, why Rocky area? Probably not the nicest part of Qld.
I have known people from Syd to move to Brisbane and find it boring, others to move here and find it too hot etc etc. if I were to make such a huge move I would probably do a 'trial' - rent, not sell current house, not quit work but take a leave.

I live in the Sunshine Coast and I love it! Compared to where I used to live (central qld) the weathers cooler, but summer is lovely. And winters not too cold either, it's been up to 27 recently just cold in the morning/evening!
It's a great family area, which is why we live here, schools are great and it's a very cruisy atmosphere, the beach front is amazing.
We lived in Rocky for awhile and I much prefer here, I love being close to the beach and I just find it a but safer and friendlier here!

We live north of brissy. Moved from vic about say, 14 years ago?? Lived in vic all my life till then.
Best thing about qld? Let me just say, I'm sitting here in shorts & t-shirt in winter!
My advice is this:
-Yes it gets hot. Don't move if you really hate the heat or humidity, you will just hate living here. Sitting in aircon all day isn't going to be much fun either!
-Research your areas & suburbs within. Sunny coast is overall a great place!
-If you have pets, make sure you treat for ticks! Nasty here...
-Job situation isn't great, but that really depends in locations & occupation.
-If we were to do the move again, id sell a lot of our furniture & re-purchase, or get a shipping company to move it all.
-If you can, could be worth getting holiday accommodation in the area until you find something more permanent. Gives you time to look around etc. You tend to get a different perspective on areas once you've lived there for a bit.
Hope that helps! Feel free to ask if you have any specific questions!

Yeppoon is actually lovely, reminded me a bit of caloundra (here at the sunny coast) loads of fish and chips shops, friendly etc my FIL lives in Emu Park, it's maybe a 30 minute drive from Rockhampton, smaller but they've built/are building a mall type place with a big woolies or coles, and a lot nicer than Rocky!
