Its been so long since I was in this situation with DD7. She's not eating or drinking, losing weight, and is awaiting a date to be admitted to the local hospital for a new feeding tube.
However the last two days shes come down with a snotty nose and hasnt eaten or had very much to drink at all. Today she ate about 7 pieces of grated cheese and some icing off a cake. Thats it. She hasnt had more than a cup of water to drink.
Im worried about her becoming dehydrated before she gets seen at the hospital for her admission (sometime this week).
What am i looking out for in a 7 yr old? She hasnt been weeing much i know that, and all she does is sleep (thats the normal for her lately anyways).
What should I watch out for?? Im half tempted to take her up to the hospital now (different hospital to where she'd be admitted) but given her admission to a linked local hospital is so soon, im thinking they'd just turn us away.
I'm worried :'(

What are the danger signs to watch for?

I think hospitals take dehydration pretty seriously so if she is dehydrated, I doubt they'd make you wait until her admission later in the week. Good luck, I hope she starts eating and drinking again soon!

I agree with JR, I think that if she is seriously dehydrated they will definitely admit her. Even if its to pop her on a drip in ER for a short while. They might even arrange her to be admitted into the other hospital sooner if she's really bad. Hope things with her are better soon xx

I would definitely get her checked out, with DD I was told if her temples cave in its a sign of dehydration, not sure if its true but I've always noticed it when she hasn't drunk much.
Good luck and hope she starts eating for you soon.

I ended up taking her up to the hospital last night. the nurse managed to get her to eat an iceblock, that was awesome. Dr wasnt too concerned yet, but called the other hospital to hopefully hurry them along with her admission. Thanks for the support guys.
