    Default MTHFR Ladies!!

Hello, I'm looking to chat with other woman who have been diagnosed with MTHFR. I was diagnosed in march but only just started to do research now because my FS said not to worry about it as my homocysteine levels were boarder line at 11.4 umol/L

I have heterozygous compound and at the moment I am taking
    5mg of folic acid
    B12 and B6

I have noticed that I feel a bit sick once taking the B12 and B6 but I'm not 100% sure it's that.

    Any info would be great.

    Hi Tiffanyandco,

I'm not ttc, but I do have a bit of experience with mthfr. Some people with mthfr have trouble converting synthetic b12 and b6 to a form that's usable by their body and do a lot better with methylated b vitamins.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about: http://www.thorne.com/Products/Vitam.../prd~SF787.jsp

If you are feeling sick after taking yours I'd try the methylated ones and see how you go.

All the best with ttc, I hope you get a sticky one soon!

p.s. methylation is a normal bodily function, but a lot of people with mthfr have trouble with this process, which is why the above vitamins are helpful.

No probs, glad I could help out. I'm not sure how easy they are to find here in Australia. If you google there might be a better price somewhere else maybe.

The other thing that just might help you is something called kefir. It is a home made fermented milk drink that is very high in all the b vitamins.

That would be a much cheaper option (just the cost of milk). I have spare kefir grains I can send you just let me know if you are interested. There's a tonne of info on google.
