There are two adults and two children in our 4 bedroom house and we pay no more than 400 a quarter. That is usually in summer when we have had the air con running most days. We got an electrician in a few years ago and we changed all our lights to low energy bulbs ( for some reason we could not just change them ourselves as our house was wired differently and had dimmers etc) anyway we spent a bit of money to save a quite a lot.

We only have electricity so use it for hot water and cooking too, just got a bill for the month we've been here and it was $140, we're a family of three.

We got ours today. $500 for the last quarter. I think last year it averaged at about $350 a quarter.
Eta: there are three of us. We do leave the TV on the classical music channel for the dogs when we are out though. I suspect that bumps up consumption.Last edited by NancyBlackett; 22-08-2013 at 16:23.

I just paid an electricity bill today, it was $311.13 for 3 months. There are 4 of us.

My last two have been about $200 for the quarter, so about $66 per month.
I work full time and have gas heating/hot water which makes a big difference I think. Plus I don't really watch tv and the one I have is an old style one.

Electricity and gas combined was close to $800 for the quarter. So harsh.

Latest bill was $325, bill before that was $380ish I think. 2 adults and 1 bub. I always have the TV on all day long and an old electricity sucking fridge/freezer.

We cut ours back by turning everything off at the powerpoint when it is not in use (except the fridge obviously). We even turn the Wifi off at night. It made a HUGE difference.
Over tv is on way more than it should be and our computer is on a lot of the time too.
Oh, we don't have a dishwasher and I only use our dryer about twice a year so that probably helps too.
