Bit of a spin off from the savings thread where a lot of people said that they didn't have savings. I certainly feel like DH & I don't get the best out of our money - its here one minute, gone the next. Assuming other people feel the same, so thought we could all share our best tips.
- Budgeting for each pay period and reconciling this prior to the next pay period. Great for monitoring where the money goes.
- Calculating all bills for the past year, adding a small amount for increases, then transferring this amount into a separate account each pay period to ensure there is always money to cover the bills.
- Automatic transfer each pay period into a separate account for savings.
- We intend to put $20 per week into a separate account for baby once it has arrived = $1000 per year.
