Default 8 month old not sitting or crawling.

My 8 month old cant sit or crawl yet. I wasn't worried but then a friends mum said yesterday 'he should be sitting by now, I would look into that'. It made me think and now I'm a little worried. I'm wondering whether I should be concerned and get him checked by my GP.

Oh dear, some people are so silly about this type of thing (the other mum not you). Lots of babies sit by 8 months but loads don't (more I suspect).

As for crawling, some never do. It doesn't mean anything is wrong! My DS started sitting unassisted around 9 months and crawled at 11 months and there is no stopping him now!

My DS was the same. I bought a bumbo seat which helped. Try propping pillows behind and around him and get him to sit up. By 9 months my son was crawling and sitting up.

Enjoy the relatively peaceful non-crawling phase I say!

In my mums group there are about 15 of us all with bubs between 7-9 months. Only a few a sitting unassisted and one is crawling.
    I wouldn't worry.

My DD is 8 months and is not crawling yet either. She can sit assisted. Don't be worried. All babies are different and they'll do things in their own time.

I skipped crawling and went straight to walking.

    Me 29 + DH 33 = DD 8 months

I'd be slightly worried by the non sitting but not at all worried by the not crawling. The physio told us its normal to learn to sit up to 10 months (I think!) and to crawl up to 12 months

Don't worry at all. My dd never crawled she got up & walked though at 9 months. Sitting as others suggested can't happen from 8 months on, every child is different.

DD crawled at 9.5 months, DS is sitting at 8 months but not crawling yet. Don't stress your bub sounds perfectly normal.
