You poor dear, i haven't had to deal with anyone with dementia although my grandmothers personality changed once my grandfather passed away and she now speaks her mind on things that can come across quiet nasty and can hurt us but nothing to the extreme you are going through. I am sure she still loves you as much as she always has but just can't show that anymore, when i have heard and read dementia stories to me it is like their minds have been taken over and they no longer have control. She is so lucky to have a granddaughter as beautiful as you looking after her. As for the dog I would be taking it home straight away, if the real estate were to ask i would be saying it was in danger and i was just caring for it for the weekend until i found a home for it or could know for sure we could keep it. Good luck with everything *HUGGGGGGGGGGGS*
