I read it and thought it was awesome. I read a few of the other ones about "You can't treat my daughter like property 'cause she's my property!" But yeah, I liked it.

Totally agree with the sentiment ... although I believe that one thing we can keep from our children and vice-versa is our sex lives. "Need to know basis" people!

Well sure, but his ideology is nothing new! Pretty sure many parents, since roman times, want their daughters to have wonderful, fulfilling love lives....

I was having some pretty awesome sex at 18 (with my now husband, not that that is relevant) and would not have an issue with my children doing the same. More than old enough to enjoy it and be responsible.

Loved this! Especially this part:
"You’re your own person, and some of the things you’re going to love will strike me as insane, ugly, or unenjoyable. This is how large and wonderful the world is! Imagine if everyone loved the same thing; we’d all be battling for the same ten people. The miracle is how easily someone’s cast-offs become someone else’s beloved treasure. And I would be a sad, sad little man if I manipulated you into becoming a cookie-cutter clone of my desires. Love the music I hate, watch the movies I loathe, become a strong woman who knows where her bliss is and knows just what to do to get it."

I read this the other day, thought it was very refreshing!

Also, I don't think people in general - say women since the article is about daughters - have fulfilling sex lives based on their dad telling them to either. It takes a certin amount of inner confidence IMO, and that comes from a sense of security, which comes from good parenting over a child's lifespan, not a letter from dad one day!
But I'm being a bit hard on the guy - he speaks sense in his message to his daughter. But he's not the first parent to want the same for their children!
I meant o write 'since the beginning if time' in my OP but roman times will do. Loved the Romans!
