I have a 2 week old newborn who I breast feed and give him top up formula. I am using karicare aptamil gold + HA which was what the hospital recommended but I find that he gets a lot of wind and he is a constant poo machine.
I'm interested in hearing what other formulas you have used for your newborns and/or experiences- I'm thinking of switching brands...any help appreciated.

Looking for formula recommendations for a newborn

Bellamy's worked great for us and I've never heard of anyone having issues with it. Newborns do tend to get wind with all types of milk though (BM too) so don't expect it to be eliminated entirely. We still had to use Infants Friend occasionally.

It's normal for a 2 week old to be a poo machine That should settle in the next or two.

It's not unusual for a bf baby to poop up to 7-10 times a day- usually it firms up a bit with formula. If the poo is frothy or green then you need to get bub checked but lots of poos (including number 3's are normal)

Heinz Nurture Gold is much better for wind IMO.

I second Bellamys Organic, was sooo impressed with it and DD had no issues at all on it

The best formula is the one that your bub likes and tolerates. Many companies will leave samples at pharmacies and you can ask to try some.
I've been through several different brands with my dd til we discovered she had cmpi (cows milk protein intolerance) the only thing I've found is that the HA formulas can be a bit rich early on. We used the standard karicare one for some time. No complaints. Also used Bellamys. Also no complaints.
