One of the best I've seen is Playschool Art Maker.

My DS's current favourite is Real Animals.

Fisher Price make some good counting/shapes/colours apps.

DS also loves pet beauty salon, In The Night Garden (warning: it's a bit annoying!), and flash cards.

I love all of the "Toca Boca" brand games. They are very educational but in a purely play based delivery. For instance, they have one called Toca House in which they play thru a variety of chores around the house. Toca Doctor looks inside the body with medical tasks involving resetting bones, sweeping away germs, and removing foreign objects. Toca Tea Party allows setting up a beautiful picnic and serving food to your guests. Toca Trains is a virtual train set. Toca Band turns tots into creative little djs. Heaps of other titles (Toca Tailor, Toca Store, Toca Kitchen, etc) they are all adorable and hours of fun for 2-7yo's. Some of the games allow multi player interation.

Another great app producer is the "TeachMe:" series, including TeachMe: Toddler, TeachMe: Kindergarten, progressing thru to TeachMe: 3rd Grade. These are a cute little school based lesson game including math, english, and science questions. Each one includes an age-appropriate reward system to encourage continued game play. For instance, the toddler version rewards with stickers, but the older versions reward with coins to spend in its store.

Both these game series's are loved by my 20mo DS and my 5yo DD, and their cousins of varying ages. Even i enjoy playing Toca Birthday Party or Toca Tea Party with them.

Just thought of another of their favourites: a new brand called "Sago Mini". There are 4 titles on offer so far; Forest flyer, Bug Builder, Sound Box, and Doodle. They have super cute animations and are all about exploration for young toddlers. My almost 2 year old adores them, but my 5yo quickly gets bored with them.

Just thought I'd let you all know about one I found while searching all of the suggestions above. Most have been saved to his new Ipad as a surprise, but these two I did to my phone for now.

Vehicle Fun - it's really good! I quickly paid the $1.99 to remove ads that DS kept tapping on, but it's worth it. Plenty to do.

Also FL, the Lego Trains one is fantastic considering its free, thanks!
