Jb2011... I have a cupboard full of supplements ;-)) I take:
- Vitamin D - 3x a week, as I used to have low Vitamin D levels - Australia has the second highest level of Vit D deficiency in the world - surprising with how much sun we have here, but it's because everyone covers up and stays inside
- Calcium - 9x a week - I had to stop taking the proper osteoporosis medicine a couple of years ago when we wanted to get pregnant, so the calcium is used to boost that
- Elevit - 1x daily - I had tried one of those other brands, but really didn't like the aftertaste!
- COQ10 - 1x daily
- Vitamin E - there is some in Elevit, but I'd read somewhere you should take more of this
- Fish Oil - I'm good eating tuna and sardines once a week each, but again read somewhere that this is good for egg quality, so a few more tablets don't hurt
The only thing extra that my FS prescribed last cycle (and I'm using again this cycle) is:
- Testogel - testosterone gel, once a day, that I rub into the back of my hand. My FS doesn't think that there's enough evidence that DHEA works, even though I've asked him a number of times before, so he said he prefers Testogel. One box of it cost $97, but I worked out after a couple of days, that I can get a couple of doses out of each packet, and I just seal the top over and secure it with a hair clip!
I haven't had my FS consult for this next cycle yet, but I'm thinking it will be pretty similar as to my last cycle, since that was my best result yet (well, best in numbers and fert rate - haven't had a BFP yet, that will be the best when that comes!!) And yes, will ask about a double transfer, and just see what he says.
Good luck, you're underway :-))

Hi everyone. We are starting our 1st IVF 'experience'. Had our first appointment with the FS this week, start on the pill next week and then hopefully hormone meds on 13th Sept. So so excited, after 6 years of TTC naturally, can't wait to get things going! Best of luck to everyone

Hi all, hope u r all well. we have a good little group going now Jb2011 how r u going now with starting jabs, ive never used the menopur. Gl with your scan on wed. It must b hard not discussing with your mum, I completely understand, last cycle I was devastated enough, and on top of that telling mum that it was all over so quickly was so heart breaking. Our clinic pushes for 5 day transfer, what will u do?

So we got stuffed around again. I'm really over this. I'm going to be jeopardising my job enough as it is taking time off for Ivf, I don't appreciate having to take time off unnecessarily just cause people can't communicate.
The lab told us & the receptionists 11th Oct for our epu but did not tell the FS. So we wasted our time & $ seeing him today when he had no idea our work up was ready & says he needs to see written confirmation before we can proceed. So I was 2 hrs late for work for nothing.
Really over this…

Thanks for adding me to the roll call jb, and good luck with the jabs, fingers crossed this is the cycle for your bfp.
Heartstringz - what clinic are you with? Nearly every step of the way DH and I have been stuffed around, I don't mind the cycling so far, but don't have one nice word to say about the service we have received through mivf. Hold in there though, it's for a good cause in the end.
I found out today that of our 19 eggs, 9 fertilized, 6 were still growing at day 3 and apparently I'll be told later today if any survived to day 5 blasts. My fs said he would know by ETand then I had to remind him that he put me on a freeze all cycle. Hoping at least onward freezes so we can do FET. Also, AF has come today - it's CD20 and I have a 31-35 day cycle. I called mivf and apparently I may have to wait an extra month.. waiting to hear back. Its so frustrating, all the waiting!
GL to all cycling atm.

Should have waited 10 more minutes to post...... I just got the call back. We have to wait not from today as CD 1, but next cycle. So that will be October. And then to make the news a harsher blow only 1 has made it to day 5... and it may not survive thwarting freeze/thaw process. Safe to say I'm absolutely gutted.
I don't know if it's worth seeing if that one makes it to transfer stage or if I'd be better off just doing another stim cycle. I also don't understand how my numbers can result in such a poor outcome. I guess this is the rollercoaster of ivf.
Sorry for the negativity.

oh ladies I am so sorry to hear you're not having good days sometimes it all just becomes too much doesn't it?
Megsarama are you with Monash or Melbourne IVF? The mivf gets confusing sometimes. The fact that your little blasty made it to day 5 and was good enough to freeze is a VERY good thing and a great positive for you as a lot of the time not even that happens. Can you afford to do another stim cycle before the FET? If you can maybe it might be worth doing another stim cycle to hopefully bank up a few more frosties but if not hopefully your little one will get your your BFP.
Heartstringz have you told your work that you are doing IVF? It must be very frustrating for you that the communication is not great between all your "people" (nurse, fs etc) Last thing you need. Will you tell them you're not impressed?
Booboo I was so glad last cycle my Mum was in NZ when I had to tell her about the chem as she is so emotional (poor mum she'd love to stay she's strong but she's not!) she would have cried which would have made me cry. I ended up telling everyone through the blog I have been writing and told them to all leave me alone for a couple of days so i could deal with it and it actually worked really well as it gave me a few days to adjust.
You have to mix up the menopur yourself, turns out it is very easy but still I was a bit nervous about stuffing it up, thankfully DH came home early from his footy function to help me.
This time around I think we will be doing a double 3 day transfer. I was really keen to do a double transfer 1st cycle but my old FS was against it so I was so happy when my new FS said she would do it but only with day 3 embryos, which I am happy with. In my 1st 2 cycles I was so fixated on blastocysts as thats what my old FS kept talking about but after our 2nd cycle where none made it to the freezer my new FS suggested that possibly our embryos don't like being in the lab so she suggested freezing on day 3 with transfer then too however she has asked the lab to talk to her daily after EPU so she knows what is going on and will make the call then. We are also doing calcium activation this cycle to help with fertilsation rates so with all these changes we will get better results!!
Welcome nvandmv... I hope your IVF journey is a very short one!! In the meantime glad you can join in as BH is a great place to come when you're going through it, the girls on here and all so lovely and helpful! Do you know what kind of cycle you'll be on? Down regulation or Antagonist?
MCG you sound like me with the supplements I have bucket loads of them... I have 2 of those plastic 7 day containers for morning and night!
Hoping that those of you having crappy days are feeling better and try and stay positive!!!

welcome nvandmv, gl with your 1st IVF. sorry to hear you were stuffed around heartstringz, really is frustrating. megs keeping my that this little one is a fighter, sure is a rollercoaster, Ive had a few down says lately, sucks we have to even go through this when so many just accidentally get preggo. Jb2011 yeh from what I know our clinic will only do double if had 3 or more cycles, they also tend to stick to the 5 day ET, Ill be asking again about that though, Id prefer a 3 day in some ways, hope we can even get to that stage after last time, I need to start feeling more positive again!!

I too am so sorry that some of you aren't having a good day. I'm sending a big to you all. It's great that you can come to this thread and just get your thoughts out there to a bunch of women who know what you're going through.
Welcome to all the new ladies since I last posted. I truly hope this is a short and happy journey for you. this is the lucky thread!
Heartstringz - I know how you feel. I've kept this whole thing a secret from my bosses because I don't want to feel like I'm being kept from things because I may be leaving in the next year or so. The downside to that is there are only so many excuses you can come up with as to why you need a few hours off work, sometimes multiple times a week. I'm pretty sure I've come up with absolutely everything. With IVF I've just asked for the week that my EPU (and hopeful ET) is scheduled off as annual leave, just in case. It's just so hard when you are keeping it to yourself and don't want them to know. I really hope you're going to say something to the clinic that you go to because that just isn't good enough. You need to feel supported during this journey, not frustrated because there is no communication. I'm really sorry you got so stuffed around.
Megsarama - I'm sorry that only one lasted until the end. Hopefully that one is a good one and makes it through the freezing process. Specialists can get things wrong all the time and hopefully the news about it maybe not making it is wrong. I have my for you.
JB2011 - I really hope that by doing the double transfer it works out perfectly for you. Isn't it amazing how one FS will have a completely different opinion to another, yet they're in the exact same field trying to achieve the exact same thing. I've heard so many stories about that in BH.
MCG Bertie - I take what feels like a hundred supplements daily too. Sometimes I look at them all and think "is this really working?". But, I wouldn't stop taking them just in case they are. A few pills is a small price to pay for getting my body ready (well, hopefully ready).
I really do hope that the day has gotten better for you most of you. If it hasn't, then there's nothing wrong with that. Don't ever feel guilty for feeling a bit down on a particular day. Unfortunately this happens to most of us. Just remember that you are a fighter and this journey will not beat you, it will only make you stronger. One day it will all be worth it .... Hopefully sooner rather than later.
