Bit of an update...went to the GP today and told him our plans to TTC next March. So I said do I need to run blood tests for Rubella etc. Turns out I have already been tested for everything because of my tests for PCOS. What a bonus! Anyway, I am immune to Rubella and the only thing I needed to do was get my chicken pox vaccine as I wasn't immune to that (eeek hate needles) I asked my GP if I could not have it in my arm. And he said 'where do you want it'? Hahah I had it on the upper part of my bum. Can't see it going in yay. Also asked about the folic acid and pre natal vits. He said to start taking them in December. Starting to get really excited because my health is up to speed and everything is rolling along nicely. it stays this way

I'm tossing up between starting my prenatal vits now or in 3 months time. I know that you don't "need" them, so even just 1-3 months prior is a big benefit, but I also figure well what harm is it taking them early. They aren't cheap, $30 for a box, but on the other hand a box lasts a whole month, so it's barely even $1/day! I'm terrible with taking pills I only remember them half the time lol. So maybe I should start now, then ill still get a good run of them. And if there's any oopsie babies ill already be on them :-)
Could you imagine going over 6 years with no scares, only to have an oopsie just a few months before you're "ready" lol irony there!

That's awesome hope! Don't have to worry about anything health wise now! Good idea in the bum lol. I don't mind needles but DH is a big chicken!!
Ill be going back sat to get my results and hand in my pee sample. Don't have time during the week cos my docs is near my home not my work. Can't wait to hear all clear, or get a head start fixing anything that needs levelling out :-)

Oh while I remember girls, don't forget a Pap smear! Get that nice and early if its been a while (I know it has for me!)

I'm actually surprised I wasn't asked to do a urine test for anything, that's just for STIs isn't it? ...hmm very odd! Can you remind me what you were tested for again pls MrsT, then in 6 weeks when I'm due for the chicken pox booster I will ask if I feel I have missed out on a 'thorough' pre-conception screening. Pap smear was done not that long ago, although I may be due again soon. Hate them, but always keep them up to date!
Who cares if it's a little early MrsT, if you want to take the vits, why not! And especially if you're not so good at remembering to take them. Could be a great idea starting early to build those levels of vits up!

Great advice MrsT it has been a while for me too. Better get the pap smear done.

Nah my urine wasn't sti testing I'm not sure what it was... She told me but the words didn't make sense haha. It was a long list I don't quite remember but when I get my results on sat I will list them all. I know I'm getting hep a&b and HIV which were unnecessary because DH got tested for them when he joined the defence force. If he doesn't have then I certainly don't lol. with chlamydia she suggested it as a "normal" but I said nah don't bother. I've only ever had one sexual partner, and I've been with him for over 6 years. If he had anything before he met me we would have noticed by now lol.
You know about the chicken pox and German measles already cos u mentioned those. They're the important ones with immunities.
My nurse practitioner was very thorough writing down every possible thing lol. She said things like having a baseline blood glucose level etc can be helpful down the track because I have diabetes in the family therefore have a higher likelihood of getting gestational diabetes.

Ahh ok I am thinking urine was for protein levels especially with the diabetes connection then
I know my blood sugars were tested previously. Also while I was waiting for the doc to get my vaccine, I saw he specialised in gyn/ob as he had an award on his wall. Good to know no wonder why he felt my stomach last time I thought I was pregnant and not just made me take a pregnancy test. Light bulb moment. I've been seeing him for years and do love it because its a family practice, lots of Mums and bubs.

Hopefully - bonus about not having to get more blood tests! Yuck, I hate needles I don't know how I survived the month or so of fertility testing where I was having a bt every other day (i don't know what was worse - needles or the internal u/s every other day )
Mrst - do what I do, put your vitamins on the table where you eat dinner. I would forget otherwise too, this way at least they are there every night to remind me
Hmmm chicken pox immunity?? I had a rubella booster & f/up bt for that only a few months ago as that was on the lower side prior to falling pregnant with dd but chicken pox, I doubt I've ever been tested...I haven't had a vaccine but did have chicken pox 6yrs. Gosh I was so sick with it and I wonder how parents stop their kiddies from scratching when even I couldn't not scratch as a fully grown adult?!
Oop, my precious has decided to wake up so I guess I should get up too. It is 8am after all I can guarantee pur next child will not sleep this well, just to teach me a lesson
(Ps shaved my legs yesterday haha will see how long this lasts)

Omg lol still haven't shaved my legs yet. They look like they did when I was 11 HAHA. At least they're blonde ;-) wearing long pants at work the last few days so ill wait a bit longer haha...
Normally DH is so unbearably against hair he think a women should be lasered from nose to toe lol. I don't think he has noticed yet somehow!!!
I've never had a gp we always moved around too much. I've been going the same place the last few times but that's just because they have pathology in the centre so can do everything all at once which is useful.
I usually keep my vitamins on my desk in front of my keyboard at work so I see them all day every day. Ill try that see if it works. I took my first one today so YAY it's officially begun haha. I'm on elevit with iodine which is what I was intending to get when I walked in but when I asked for pre natal it's what she reached for automatically anyway lol. I've heard good things. Hopefully it can pick me up as I've been feeling very peaked lately.
