I don't think it's an issue at all I've been to three that the mother's organised themselves. My sister hosted mine but mainly because I'm useless and if it was left to me invites would be a day prior and we'd be eating vegemite sangas lol. I wanted to just do a casual lunch this time but a few of my goods friends have never been to a shower and they have conspired with my sister to throw another big shindig haha.
Love the wording of your invites madewithlove! I think high tea is a great idea!

Not at all ! I organised my own (first baby though) cos i have no one close enough to me , friend-wise or geographically, to organise it for me. Everyone had a great time, its a nice excuse for everyone to get together and talk about baby...no matter who hosts it or what number baby it is

I wouldn't be put off by it at all I think it's a great idea & at least this way you can organise what you'd like to do. I think all pregnancies should be celebrated & I wouldn't think it's a pressie grab at all. You'll find that most people will want to buy you presents if you had a baby shower or not. Good luck, what you're organizing sounds lovely & I think it's a great idea

Nope, went to a lovely one the other weekend, just a simple barbecue with her and partners friends to celebrate the upcoming baby. No games or anything, but people brought presents.

Thanks for all your replies! Spoke with mum and told her I think I changed my mind about not having a shower. She was straight onto, not even a blink - ok. What do you want to do and where shall we have it.
Guess I needn't have worried after all but I'm still going to plan it mostly myself so she doesn't stress over it as well as helping to plan my SILs wedding.

A friend organised for me and 2 other friends. To keep the cost down, she made it a book theme and suggested guests to gift a favourite book of their own to the mummies to be. I chipped in some money towards the party held at her place.
