At the moment I'm doing diploma of counselling online, once I finish this (and if I pass) ill do the bachelor at a uni. Not sure where yet as I still have a year, but I know I want to do it on campus. I just need to start saving so I can afford full time daycare fees while I'm not working.

Really wish I had of done this before having kids and ending up a single parent.

Ring your local TAFE you can talk to a career advisor, they will be able to help you with where to start. :-)

Sounds good what you are doing Bexter! Especially as it takes a year of your degree.

My degree is Psychology and thank goodness is registered, the uni has this year changed the name to Psychological Science, but as I enrolled under the old name that it was I will get. I do all mine externally but I love it. Means I can study when I want to and listen to the lectures late at night. I guess you are aware that to be a "psychologist" that you have to do honors and masters, but you may not have to be a psychologist to be a counsellor in school. Or honors and 2 years supervised practice plus an exam (that is new since I last looked).

So at the moment I am trying to keep my GPA high so I can qualify for honors if that is where I want to end up. Otherwise I would like to do alcohol and drug case worker or something.

When I spoke to the career adviser at the TAFE they said I needed to do 3 years for phycology then a 2 year internship at a school. (Others are now saying I'll need to spend a few more years to become a teacher to council at a school)

I have no idea about the masters (what it means) and all that. I left school in year 9, never went to TAFE so this is a whole new world for me, with heaps of stuff I don't understand. I'm hoping ill pick it all up though.

The diploma is my entry into phycology.
I really want to do phycology on campus as I know I'll need the teachers support and doing it at home just won't work, I get distracted to easily and really want to do well in my phycology degree.

If phycology doesn't work out I was thinking of drug and alcohol too.

I know the University of Western Sydney (I see you live out west) credits you on your subjects and you can continue studying there. I live in Wollongong so I don't know how I feel about traveling that way to study so I am contacting Wollongong Uni to see if I can study there.

At this stage I am looking at family welfare worker. I will try and find a position there while I continue to study.

I had my workshop today and got 100% so feeling pretty good about where I'm at.

Giving myself the night off tonight then will get stuck into it tomorrow. I underestimated how much reading was involved! Lol

Well done!! Getting a good has motivated me and I am already stuck into my next unit, one that I was putting aside because I thought that it was too hard. Fingers crossed my motivation gets me over the line for this one.

I'm thinking if doing the Cert III in community services next year.
I'm thinking I will do it through face to face study as I like the social interaction and I seem to learn better. I wouldn't have enough discipline to study online. My lounge or bed look too inviting lol!!

I've got a Diploma in children services so I'm thinking I'd still like to work with young children but unsure where I would work or how I'd even get into the job. Any advice??
