    Default Metformin/Duromine and low calories!

Saw dr yesterday and she has put me on metformin 3x daily, Duromine every 2nd day and 450 calorie diet!
Day 1 today and its not sooo bad, just waiting for 3pm when my sugar craving hits....
Has anyone else been put on a really stringent plan with PCOS?

I have never heard of someone put on such a low-calorie diet. It really doesnt sound like a long-term plan or one thats very healthy

Wow, only 450 calories? My FS sent me to a dietician when I was diagnosed with pcos and insulin resistance. The dietician set out a very low carb plan (ie under 20g carbs at lunch, under 5g for dinner) and initially this ended up being about 850 calories because i followed it so strictly. But after a week or two this was increased to about 1200 calories as my dietician said otherwise I wouldn't have enough input to function.
How long are you meant to stick to this plan???

450calories doesn't seem much. You haven't started on all 3 metformin tablets at once have you? Your dose should be increased slowly, it can make you feel REALLY ordinary. Expect lethargy, tiredness, nausea and the runs.

I would maybe talk to another doctor? This seems really intense.

Are you sure it isn't 1450 calories?

I think you misunderstood. No one in their right mind would put you on such low calories plus the medication.
You need to go back and speak to the doctor or see someone else.
This is very dangerous no matter how much weight you have to lose.

The bare minimum you can function on is 1200.

It's only for 4 weeks, just to really kick start my body.
I've been on met before so know the drill re increasing dosage.
