Well I might be one of the people who will name my kid an old fashion name. Actually, not my idea. DH dislikes any of the popular names that I suggested. I think the name is just not common here in Australia but elsewhere in Northern Europe. I am not yet convinced. I will have to think about it more.
My DH is the same we can't have anything Aussie, Irish, Scottish, Middle Eastern, American, Bogany, posh Bogany etc doesn't leave us with much other than traditional English names....I can roll with that

    I like Van.
It's been around for a while. Van Morrison. Van West. Sophie and Dale from The Block named their son Van. It's just a pity their last name is Vine though.

I think it is a name. I actually thought it sounded ok, like I think it almost made it to my potential boys names list. it's definitely been discarded if those 2 clowns name their kid that though.

Someone I know has the name Sharryne (pronounced exactly the same as Sharon). Seriously. She's in her 60s so yooneek spelling obviously isn't a new thing.

I don't get why people feel the need to make up names or spell/pronounce normal names differently. There are so many wonderful names out there and if you're looking for something a bit different, look to other cultures for names instead!
