Yeah I can't complain much about the system here. I think only thing I have noticed better about Vic system is there is sometimes the option of being placed with a younger baby whereas here by the time the various wait periods have taken place the baby will always be a minimum 4 months old and that is if everything has progressed with no delays and everyone ready to sign all required paperwork on the earliest day possible. Our DS was just over a year old. The only thing that I find surprising about the high rates of face to face contact down there is surely not all birth parents want face to face contact?? Especially regular contact.

That is true re the face to face but our social worker said the pickier we are the longer it would take to get a baby.

True, however if you're a good match for a baby that is all it takes. We were placed within 8 weeks.

    Is that for permanent care?

I will add that our family has a few factors that make us favourable candidates for adoption which probably helped our cause, but adoption certainly isn't always a dead end option. Our DS is perfectly healthy, happy little boy.

A little hard to answer and protect privacy, but our personal and professional experience with regards to adoption and the challenges it can present were seen as significant.
