Seriously what nurse doesn't know that, if they can't get the simple things right it makes you wonder and worry about them handling the more important things

Hey guys, sorry ive been absent for such a long time. Im still here and ready to do another round this month or next depending when my AF arrives. Im just wondering if i can ask for some advice? Im currently at QFG with Dr Bopp and considering swapping to Dr Flynn, has anyone had good, bad experiences with dr flynn any advice whether its worth swapping or not? I saw dr flynn one cycle while Dr bopp was on holidays and he seemed great and alot more proactive etc...

    Fullofhope welcome back!!

I changed to Dr Flynn this cycle (after 4 cycle's with Dr O'Dowd) and I couldn't be more happier. TK suggested him, as did the nurses at QFG. I've also got a gf who did her first cycle with him (fell pregnant first time) and he delivered the baby of another gf (her OB was O'Dowd).

I find Flynn to be really proactive. The nurses described him as being a 'Hunter'! With my first 4 cycles with O'Dowd (2 fresh, 2 FET), he didn't change anything. I fell pregnant on the 1st & 4th but never was extra support (HCG, progresterone etc) suggested by him even though I'd had a miscarriage in the past naturally. He wouldn't even listen to my concerns about this or my endo etc. My first appt with Flynn was a breath of fresh air. My DH & I really felt like he listened to us. We went through all of my concerns, he gave me a thorough examination and gave us a game plan! He increased my stimulating drugs, gave me HCG shots and increased my progesterone from transfer and I fell pregnant and had the best levels yet!!!

I was also really sick in the beginning with severe MS and hospitalised twice. He came in and saw me each day I was there just to check on me. On the 2nd visit I started bleeding on the Fri night and he came in about 6:30pm to check on me then back in the next morning on his rounds (in his rugby gear!!). I was so scared during that time but he calmed me down a lot.

Around 9 weeks I started bleeding again and his rooms got me in for a scan without a booking. Found out I had a blood clot & he put me on bed rest for 2 weeks. We had our NT scan the other week & saw Flynn again last Monday and all is good now. He told me not to worry him again with any more things!!! My placenta was also a bit low and he said I'm not black or white I'm a shade of grey!!! His bedside manner is awesome. The girls in the office are wonderful too. They have the receptionists & the midwifes.

I couldn't recommend him enough. I'm actually glad we changed, not only for falling pregnant but I've heard he really considers your birth plan too (TK helped deliver her bubba!).

Hopefully that helps! Wishing you lots and lots of luck.

    xx

Oh my gosh that is exactly what i wanted to hear mustang! The last 2 cycles with Dr Bopp he made no suggestions, lowered the meds even though it worked great first cycle & pretty much had no ppointments or discussing anything with me... I felt like it was pointless & he just didnt care... Can i ask did you have to go through all the routine tests again to change over? & was there a waiting time? I really want another cycle in another 4-6weeks pending AF, but it might not give me enough time to swap?

Fullofhope it all happened really quickly for us. On my last cycle with O'Dowd I had a chemical pregnancy. When I was in the clinic getting my last bloods it was suggested to me we see Flynn (the nurses would rather you stayed with the clinic & changed Dr's than just leave). Anyhoo they actually called Flynn's rooms & we got an appt the following week!! I think it was a cancellation but he's pretty accommodating with his times (maybe explain your situation). I had to wait a cycle before we went again because of the HCG still in my body but my 4th cycle was in March & we had our 5th cycle egg pickup 1st May so it happened quite quickly. You don't need to have all the tests again but you will need another referral from your GP. Bopp could refer you but that only lasts 6mnths as opposed to 12mnths from GP.

Id suggest getting an appt & referral now so you can get the ball rolling!
