I remember reading on the RTA website that you can apply to have your name removed from the lease in such situations.
What state are you in? Have you looked up the relevant website online?

In nsw you can apply to the cttt to get a co-tenancy terminated, so in other words get your name off the lease while he stays on. Call your real estate though, while they can't say no, every office has slightly different procedures, so find out how they want you to go about it. :thumbup:
