What's your secret weapon??
DH and I have the most hideous head colds, have had them for at least a week. We've both had the most massive week so I don't think our bodies are fighting them very well.
I've just made a pot of chicken soup to try and combat this filthy bug. Please share your best new school or old school remedies, we're only 1/3 into winter and I need an arsenal!

We've all just recovered from head colds, bloody annoying things! Paracetamol and sudafed helped, keep warm too. Sometimes I find that antihistamines can help to reduce inflammation in the sinuses.

Vaporizer in our room over night, Panadol, Strepsils, chicken noodle soup or meals with garlic, lemon and honey tea and sitting with our heads over a bowl of boiling water with eucalyptus oil or Vicks in it with a tea towel over our head.
ETA and plenty of Vit C!

Olive leaf. We drink it everyday all through winter and triple the dose when sick.

Olive Leaf Extract, high dose Vitamin C (powder) and Betadine Throat Gargle. As SOON as you feel it coming on.
Also lots of sleep, lots of tea and lots of chicken soup (only believe its really beneficial if cooked from scratch with chicken bones and lots of garlic).

I have heard olive leaf is good.
I use dimetapp cold flu tablets and I SWEAR by senega and ammonia cough liquid. Tastes foul but the only thing that works for me.

Swisse vitamins Immune Defense ... take it daily and increase dose if a cold hits and the colds only last a couple of days. I also take Ethical Nutrients Sinus and Hayfever daily to keep sinus issues away as I suffer badly if my sinus becomes blocked. Swear by both of these products.

Cold and flu tablets - the behind the counter pharmacy ones, lots of water during the day, hot steamy showers and a good night sleep (10-12 hours(. I find a decent sleep has the biggest impact on making me feel better.

I always take echinacea, Vit C & Zinc at the first sign. I double the dose it says on the bottle and take it 3 times a day. It doesn't stop it but I find it lessens the severity and shortens the length. To cope with the stuffed up head I use Dimatap nose spray and some 12hr hayfever tablets and panadol. I find this combo works better for me than cold & flu tablets.
