    Default Latching help

Anyone have any tips to help me get dd's bottom lip to flange out?

I've had a LC come to help me but of course as soon as she left we started having trouble again.

Everything else looks fine. Her chin is in deep, her jaw and temple are moving and I can hear her swallowing, but my breast isnt in far enough and she's pinching my nipple

    What else can I try?

    She's 8 weeks.

Yeah she sucks the nipple in like a straw if I let her do it herself.

Basically I place the nipple above her top lip and wait for her to open her mouth wide, then try and cram as much breast in as possible, but can't get her bottom lip to curl out.

Try and use your fingers to tilt your nipple up towards the roof of her mouth. Then she should get the nipple and a good mouthful of flesh from under the nipple.

I feel your pain. Breastfeeding is hard!!!

I used to pull my daughters lip down once she was latched on and sucking in an effort to open her mouth. Different positions helped too. I sat her more upright than a laying position and she held her mouth differently then. I am trying to remember what the Lactation consultant told me as I had the same problem, it is all a blurr. It does get better and more enjoyable. My daughter is now 7 months and doesn't look like weaning any time soon (despite a new pregnancy). I can't get her to drink from anything but me - Motherhood!
