Default How long can you freeze it for?

DH and I are going overseas in 4 weeks time without the kids. 2 year old and 9 month old for 2 weeks. I will be making some food and freeze them for MIL so its easier for her.
Is it too early to start cooking now? How long would you freeze cooked food for?
    Thanks!
