I went to school with this girl, we're not close now but if I see her around I'll say hi and have a chat. Anyway she has 2 children, I think one is 5 and the other is 2 or 3, and I have heard from 2 different (fairly reliable) sources that she and her new boyfriend smoke weed several times a week while the children are in the house (apparently they are in a different room while they are doing it, I assume at night while they are in bed but not sure)
Can I report this to dhs or someone? I don't have any other information other than that. I don't know if the children are being neglected or anything in any other way but I keep thinking about it and I would hate to hear that something happened to them and I knew but did nothing.
Also on a different note I'm fairly sure she is defrauding centrelink claiming single parenting but her new boyfriend is living there.

Can I report her?

I guess you could make a report to DOCS about the weed. But don't expect them to do anything about it, they have bigger issues to deal with than a few pot smoking parents.
Regarding the CENTRELINK fraud, you can call CENTRELINK and report them.

No. You can't report gossip.

Yeah I figured it wasn't much to go off. I just feel for the kids that's all but I guess if they are looked after in every other way then it definitely wouldn't be anywhere near the top of docs priority list and could be a lot worse. I honestly can't imagine doing that kind of thing with my daughter in the house.

I don't smoke pot and neither did my parents however I had some close friends when I was a kid who's parents smoked weed and they were all loving caring parents and the children grew into we'll adjusted adults. Personally, I wouldn't dob for those reasons alone.

Just because they smoke pot, it doesn't mean that they are bad parents or that they're neglecting their children. If they were smoking pot in front of their children, that's messed up.

Pot smoking alone is not enough for DOCS/FACS to act. It doesn't necessarily mean they are bad parents. There needs to be some degree of neglect, abuse or danger to the children.

Op you can report whatever you like as a concerned person - whether it Is acted upon isn't something any of us can say, given we don't know what other reports have been made etc.

No not really to be honest. Of course you can ring DoCs and speak to someone but essentially this is just something you heard.. you dont have first hand knowledge, so no you can't make a report.

I have never smoked pot but I can't see the difference between that, and the parents that drink alcohol a couple of times a week. As long as the kids are not neglected in any way, and they don't do it in front of them, I don't think it's a big deal.
