    Default Bruised nipples

Well second night in with my DD and due to exhaustion alone I made a rookie mistake and let her just latch and feed on her own constantly without checking attachment. Result? Bruised nipples. :-(

It is day four now and they are still bruised but she is latching correctly... When will they heal? Also when she gets on it hurts but how do I know it is a result of the bruising or poor attachment? My milk still hasn't come in completely.

    Thanks!

Can you go up, to the local nurse for some advice?

When my nipples were really sore (not bruised) the pain subsided after about 10 seconds, does your pain go away or stay for the duration of the feed?

Have you thought about nipple shields until the bruising goes? I tried them, but didn't really like them as they were messy, and DD wasn't a big fan. If it is painful, it may be worth a shot.

Hope the bruising goes away soon!
