Default What did you do for the 1st birthday?

Exactly as the title says: what type of celebration did you have? OTT? Low key?

We just had the inlaws and my family over for a bbq. We had a few mickey mouse things like napkins, balloons and plates to dress it up a little bit but other than that it was a nice relaxing day for everybody

Just had family for afternoon tea and cake cutting. Mostly just to get some photos. I bought a foil balloon to tie to the highchair and a party hat for the pics and that was it. Nothing OTT

We had about 30 friends and family. We had an afternoon with snack foods and cake, was really fun!

We did what the family call "coffee and cake". Make a birthday cake, offer nibbles (chips, lollies, party pies and sausage rolls, cheese crackers and dip, fruit platter etc). We have all of our family and friends around and have a lovely low key afternoon and about midway through, we cut the cake, open presents and take photos. Everyone seems to enjoy themselves and both the boys were ok with all all the attention etc and not overly overwhelmed

We went low key for DS and will do the same for DD. Just close family at our house for a bit of cake in the afternoon. Too much more is too overwhelming, I think.
We had grown up cake, not a kids cake, as ours are the only young kids in the family.

We had a massive party for dd1 - about 60ppl. I cooked everything and we served a light lunch. Did the whole decorations stuff etc

Dd2 turns one in three weeks and hers will be slightly smaller so about 50ppl and about 10 kids.

Low key for us. Immediate family and bestest friends, about a dozen adults in total (no one we invited had kids at that stage). We had a yellow duckie cake and morning tea at our house and then went to the zoo where we had a little picnic lunch. Perfect day.

For #1 we had small low key family and close friends. Cake and some finger food. Was lovely.
For #2 we had a party, about 20ppl, lots of kids and had balloons and games. It was a fun day. A lot of work for a day she has no memory of.
#3 turns one in about 6 weeks and it'll be a low key event again as #2 just had a massive party for her birthday. And #1 is having a big party for her birthday in about 10 weeks.
