Default Medicare and centre link question

My son is 7 weeks old. A couple of weeks ago I filled in the form to register him for Medicare eg to add him to my Medicare card and on the same day I also filled in the form to apply to centre link for paid parental leave ( I requested payments to begin in August). I posted both forms.

My question is, what happens now. Will Medicare send me a new card with my son added? Will centre link advise me I writing that my paid parental leave has been approved and payments will begin I August as requested?

Did you send the forms in? Or hand them in over the counter?

As for centrelink you will most likely need to call them... try calling early as the lines just open!
The wait times are horrendous! Have fun

As I asked for my paid parental leave payments to begin in August, would you expect centrelink to notify me in writing that this is approved, or would they just begin my payments in August without advising me before hand?

Not to sure.., they may notify you closer to the start date.
Do you have online services? Try logjn an have a look if not maybe look at registering?
You can pretty much do everything through online services now (inc lodging and uploading documents.)

I got a letter in the mail from Centrelink about 3-4 weeks after mailing the forms to let me know my PPL was approved and would start on XX date. Bub was born 2/1/13 and I don't start PPL until July.

A week later I received my new Medicare card.
