    Thanks for all the replies! Good to hear that steaming and using the stick blender wasn't a pita, I was initially thinking of doing this but wasn't sure if it would be easier to have a gadget that does it all in one.

    Well I'm going to go against the grain and say how much I love my steamer blender. It's an Avent one. I can literally make steamed food and puree in less than ten minutes with only one thing to clean. I have a stick blender etc but I LOVE my all in one.

    I used to steam on the stove (I was cooking for the family anyway) and then mash with a fork or the potato masher.
