But wouldn't people in that category get it through FTB A?

I'm a bit miffed.. It's put a bit of a downer on our baby's arrival (sept) I left work at 12 wks knowing baby bonus was in place so the PPL doesn't apply to me now... This should have had far more notice to families...

What I want to know.. Now it's been cut.. I had A child in 2011 got the 5k so now will I get $1000? Or is it $2000 from every child born from july1 And then $1000 for subsequent kids there after.. Does that make sense?

No idea for sure knowing how legislation usually works I'd bet it would be $1000.

Yep it's a bummer but when the economy's struggling things go. They've stripped back so much already and the bb has been increasingly on the nose in many quarters for quite a long time.

It won't kick in until after people already pregnant have given birth.

    Probably 1 July next year.

A heck of a lot. I had DD2 in April after they started to means test it and I knew a lot of people who booked in for 31 December who were due early January.

I have a few people I know who are due late june but have organised to be induced mid june so they dont miss out on the $5000 instead of the $3000 or whatever it was dropping to for subsequent babies...

Personally id rather go past my due date and avoid being induced, $5000 is not enough of an incentive for me to go through another induction lol.

Maybe, maybe not. Some people could be on high incomes and over committed with mortgages etc.

I'm not saying that is right or wrong, just that *affording* is a very complex concept.

I would say, from changes the govt has made to BB in the past, that the changes announced wont take place til July next year? I guess PPL is still in place, sad that they're taking from families who need support. I don't qualify for BB, but have received it in the past.
I hope more information is available soon
