That just makes me feel sick. Is that really going to happen? I know their policies on whaling made my flesh crawl.

Words from Wayne Swan's former chief of staff

I have read back and found that they decided to ditch the death duties - which is a good thing, so apologies that I thought this was still current.

The idea dipping into super which is what a lot of us will be living on in the future is not a good one - as there's increasingly less money available for pensions with the aging population and more people will be having to rely upon their super.

Yes, the greens outline a lot of their policies online, but there is little about how they'll pay for them. Which is what I find scary.

Yes, the live-export suspension will be lifted and Abbott plans on apologizing to Indonesia. If you google Animals Australia they have more of what has exactly been said and what is planned.

I thought the only live export suspension which was in place at the moment was to Egypt.

You'd be correct. I really wouldn't trust Animals Australia to be source of truthful info. Though I am a bloodthirsty farmer

I don't like it either but it's not a black and white situation.

    First few sentences:
Tony Abbott says he'd build bridges with Jakarta if elected, including by apologising for Labor's decision to suspend live cattle exports.

A coalition government would try and help Australia's struggling graziers by apologising to Indonesia for Labor's decision to suspend live cattle exports to the South-East Asian nation.
Opposition Leader Tony Abbott said if elected the coalition would never make such a "catastrophic decision", which not only hurt the domestic cattle industry but soured trade relations with Indonesia.
The federal government temporarily suspended live cattle exports to Indonesia in 2011 following public outrage over Australian cattle being mistreated in Indonesian abattoirs.
This was a very interesting opinion piece in the SMH pointing out the fallacy of the “deficit bad, surplus good” mantra that is popularised by both ALP and Libs. The piece argues that at times running a deficit is actually good for the economy.

I'm regional, and farming plays a big part in our local area, but I don't agree with live exports, not a bit. There are much better ways to the these things.
