    Default Wooden toys

I am looking to get DS some wood blocks but it's hard to know which ones are safe. Anyone have advise on lead free wooden toys?

I could be wrong but I thought they had to be non toxic? I know the ones in Kmart are labelled as such.

I haven't looked at K-mart but BigW and Toys r Us both have them and it doesn't say anything on the label about the paint.

Im fairly certain in this day and age its a legal requirement that the paint etc on toys be non toxic...

Yes, as PP said, manufacturers cannot legally use lead paint in children's toys. You wouldn't be able to buy them if you tried. So you can have whatever blocks you want

I prefer ELC as they conform to EU standards which are quite a bit more stringent than AU. Same with ikea

I'd say stick to ELC ones, however I'm sure anything sold in the big chain stores has to comply by Australian standards on lead migration. I'd be a little dubious of stuff from the reject shop discount stores full of stuff from China.

Hard to get ELC now that Kids Central stores have all closed. I found this article about wooden toys. http://www.livingsafe.com.au/babies-...-created-equal I'm not sure you can just trust the large chain stores especially after reading this. I'll be looking for the European standard on anything I buy.
