I so understand that feeling of not wanting people to think poorly. You don't have to tell everyone though. Is there just one trusted person you could tell that can check in with you?

I can't tell my parents. I want too but we're in different states. They will freak out. All my friends here are his relatives. My old boss is my friend though and I think I will tell her and start taking boxes of special things to her house secretly. I'm worried things will go pear shaped when I find a place. Thank you for your support everyone. I just start to panic sometimes and can't think straight.

I also live in a small town and people talk. I would hate people knowing this.

You need to tell some people. And tell your parents. Don't be afraid to, the support is great. When I left my ex I had an emergency bag packed (had this packed for months) and I threw that in my car along with what I could fit in there and I drove 5 hours home. I just let everything else go. My ex had no idea where my dad lived which helped.

My dad was a wonderful support and looked after me. I felt I couldn't tell anyone but I am so glad that I did.

I hope you can get it all worked out soon. Stay strong and stick to your wishes.

Great idea to tell your old boss! Support networks are so important and you will be much more likely to do what is best for you and your kids if you have people supporting you through it.

I told a friend last night and rang the domestic violence hotline this morning. Mostly to confirm that I wasn't crazy and making this stuff bigger than it is. I feel a little better now. I'm hoping to get a phone call today about a house I applied for. Thank you everyone for your support I just get really anxious sometimes.
