I was just researching this a few months ago as DS always spoke in 3rd person and its quite normal as that is how he copies us !

when we thought about it we always used to say " mummy's just going to work or Daddy's just going to the toilet" so therefore he would say " Elijah is just going outside or Elijah needs to go to the toilet"

so we stopped saying mummy and daddy and started saying "Im going to work now" and within a few weeks he started copying! He's only 2.5 so not sure if 4 is still the same principal ?

I don't think so. He is a pretty laid back, happy kid. Speech not that great, but I guess I am used to my very talkative 3 year old!
