Default Tips on keeping ds safe from pond

We have a pond.. I really didnt want it but dh has always wanted to do the pond thing. Looks great but now we have a walking boy I'm terrified!!
We can't really fence it.. It just wouldn't work, if we were to do that we may as well fill it in.
I'm thinking door alarms so if any door going outside gets opened it will alarm and if I'm in another room I can run to the door.
    Are these available? Door alarms..

What else could we do? Maybe fence our whole grass area off which is were the pond is.. So u step out to alfresco but you have a fence to get to backyard. Wouldn't look great but ds safety first

Any other ideas would be fantastic! Thanks

Super nanny talks about pool alarms which go off if someone falls in the pool. Might be worth investigating?

I agree doors and fencing, but perhaps also so wire mesh, or concreters mesh (the really heavy duty stuff with squares that are about 15cm) fixed over the top. It is pretty ugly but it will prevent your little one falling in and also allows any greenery in the pond to grow upward. Do all 3 .
