I'm about to start clomid 50mg cd5-9 as the gyno is pretty sure I have pcos and am not o'ing at all.
This has probably been asked at some point but I can't find an answer really close to what I want to know!
Can anyone tell me success rates of clomid and how many cycles you took it for? All I know is the general stuff you can read from the CMI or specialist

Yet another clomid question
14-04-2013 11:43 #2
Progesterone was sitting around 2-5.
1st clomid cycle - 50mg (no ovulation)
2nd - 6th cycle - 100mg (progesterone went up - may have ovulated/may not have - borderline, something still not right)
Had laparoscopy done
7th clomid cycle - 100mg - fell pregnant
Didn't need for subsequent pregnancies
All the best

Everyone is so different... just don't lull yourself into thinking it's a "miracle drug" because you will set yourself up for disappointment. I've never read any specific stats on success rates.... but I think if I did now it would probably just make me sad.
I am on my 5th cycle of 50mg of Clomid and have ovulated on that dose every month.... but I'm still not UTD
We start IVF in May.
Some women need higher doses, some it never works for. But there are certainly other women out there who fall first cycle.
Good luck with it!!!

Thanks obviously I hope to be lucky in the first month but like when we started ttc I knew that it was only tho who are lucky- very lucky to fall ASAP.
Tbh I just hope for no severe side effects
ATM my progesterone is 2, if we don't fall first cycle on clomid the gyno is adding metformin even if all the ultrasounds are clear. I think she will add prog too second cycle, there was a lot to take in so that's a bit hazy. Good thing I've got a follow up appt very soon!!
Fx for all you ladies out there

Do you know what's funny with the side effects.... I only realised they were side effects a couple of days later!
I had crazy hot flushes, mild nausea and mood swings. These all coincided with a driving holiday around Tassie (which I thought explained the nausea and moodiness!). It was only later in our hotel in Melbourne that I had the AC bordering on arctic to go to bed and DP was under about 50 blankets that I put two and two together and realised I was getting hot flushes!!!
I don't get the nausea anymore because I take it at night but by taking it at night - I tend to get insomnia instead!

Clomid didn't work for me so FS put me on letrozole. First cycle on 2.5mg I ovulated (22 progesterone level) second cycle 5mg (50 progesterone level) and am now 6 weeks pregnant. Not everyone has success with the same drugs you need to find what is right for you

Took me four cycles (100mg) for my first and three cycles (100mg) for my second. I fell pregnant naturally for my third but had a MMC at 10 weeks.
I have been TTC for 6 months post MMC and as far as progesterone shows, I am not ovulating (on 150mg).
Next step is to add Metformin.
Like others have mentioned, my side effects were also hot flushes, headaches and mood swings (anxiety).

I was on 100mg I would take at night I was told to take day2-6, I experienced terrible ovulation pain (not sure if its because I hadn't ovulated in so long?) and a bit of moodiness, but was also going through work issues, major stress, second month I decided I wasn't going to take it for a third month due to the pain, but I need not to worry as I fell pregnant on the second cycle MASSIVE shock, still has not sunk in yet lol

I re started temping to try see if there's been anything so far nothing but its only 4 days since the last tablet. I'm getting o symptoms!!
Once I get some kind of confirmed o or possible I want to stop temping, that way there's no agonizing over temp changes.
@Annarific if this cycle is unsuccessful ill be put on metformin too gyno wants to do it even if there are no pearls on my ovaries she's convinced it's pcos without symptoms. I figure if there aren't pearls, taking metformin might help me loose some weight..from the nausea side effect! Lol
Fx for you ladies still ttc
