    Default Pain after appendectomy, normal?

I had a appendectomy nearly 8 months ago. Just wanted to know from anyone whose had one. I am still getting this pain that isn't always there but when it is it hurts. Docs say its just phantom pains just I'm not so sure. Any insight would be nice. TIA

I had one and after a few weeks there was no pain. Maybe see a different doctor.

I had mine out when I was 17 and I got pains randomly for years afterwards, sometimes when I reached up or moved in a certain way. Its been 9 years now and I don't have it anymore thank god! I also had the old operation where they just cut straight into your stomach, so not keyhole surgery or whatever it's called so I just assumed mine was because they cut through a lot of layers of skin or something!
If it's bad pain though I'd go to another doctor to be sure!

I had a lot of pain after my appendix out. After going to two hospitals and several drs later turns out it was adhesions from surgery.

Yep, I would say probably adhesions, a normal but irritating side effect of any surgery.

I had mine out when I was 14, never had any real problems afterwards that i recall. Now I'm 26 weeks pg (this is 18 years later) and the other day I got terrible shooting pains in my right side, bad enough for me to call the hospy. They reckon I have probably torn/stretched an internal adhesion from the appendix surgery. It was gone within two days but it fricking hurt!

A dr could probably do an ultrasound to check if there is anything wrong. Can you go back and see the surgeon for a review?

I had the op at Hervey Bay hospital but have moved to Townsville since. I have an appointment with my local GP Thursday to check up and ask. Thanks for all your replies guys. I appreciate it.
