    In VIC you don't need car seats in taxis so they don't have them - you just put them on your lap

    Yeah totally understand that. I won't use them! But they don't have them as its not required so the taxi deivers don't want to outlay the costs unnecessarily.

    When we go to the airport I have hired a private driver with a car seat. One time it was blatantly not installed properly though!!!!

    Thanks for all the replies and advice, I kind of figured most taxis male you hold the baby on your lap but I was more looking at the safety aspects. Luckily I seem to have found a place that seems to cater by not only having baby seats but can bring a van and trailer so that my little family and extended family can all travel together.
