Irregular cycles and ttc, anyone been through similar??

I haven't been around the ttc section much lately as my life has been a nightmare (dp out of work for the last 2 mths and we are homeless leaving with my sister for the meantime) so ttc has been the last thing on my mind. Since coming off the pill in June last year I've only had 5 periods sometimes missing months at a time, it's so frustrating ttc and not even knowing if I'm ovulating. I've finally gone to the drs about my crazy irregular cycles had bloods and booked in for u/s Thursday. She thinks it might be pcos of a thyroid problem. I just really want some answers. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone out there has been through similar issues with cycles etc. I just want someone to talk to who gets what I'm dealing with!

I had irregular periods and I got tested to find I had PCOS. We were lucky enough to conceive our DS within 6 months without any help, but sadly with my DD we needed the help of clomid, thankfully we conceived first go.

Maybe it might be best to see your GP and see if he/she can get some test organised for you so that at least you can get some answers.

I am in the same boat. After 17 months off the pill I have only had 3 periods all months apart. I have seen docs had.bloods, ultrasounds and this Thursday getting a laparoscopy. I found the hardest thing is still getting your hopes up even though you may not ovulation for months at a time.. Hang in there and do the tests to.make sure you you can get some answers. Hopefully we will both have some soon.

Thanks for the replies. Ultrasound tomorrow I really hope I get some answers if after all this they still don't know what's wrong that'll be harder..

I was the same with my first I would go from 30-60 day cycles. I didn't know why so I just had sex every second day for 2.5 weeks until we got well and truly sick of each other! Haha we got pregnant straight away
I also have PCOS and was only told about it last year although I have had it since before i got pregnant with our first 9 years ago! Weird
So I have been pregnant 6 times and only have 1 working ovary that shooted out an egg every other month up until 2 years ago when I became regular.
My working ovary is apparently covered with fibroids and cysts and dodgy by the technicians standards yet I have fallen pregnant easily with each pregnancy . 3 suprise ones which I lost all of them and 3 planned ones which I just tucked all into bed
I think it's a matter of the luck of the draw with PCOS so even if you do have it you may not have that much trouble besides figuring out what your cycle will be like and knowing when to catch that egg

What an awesome reply thanks Kelly gives me some hope... had ultrasound today had to have an internal. The ultrasound tech gave nothing away. I checked out the images when I got home and of course I have no idea what I'm looking at but the one of my ovaries had what looked like dark spots all over it.... freaked me out a bit. I should stop over analyzing it I think. Changed my drs appointment to tomorrow morning so I'll have to wait and see I guess!

Melimum, PCOS can cause irregular periods, could it be that? I've had great success using accupuncture to help regulate my cycles and have conceived twice.
