Default "Tear" on toddlers "private area"....

    Hi all.

My DD seems to have a small tear of sorts, it isn't bleeding, but is a small (painful) separated area, on her inner labia (from what I can see, she was squirming a lot and wouldn't let me look much.

I'm wonder how something like this could come up? Is it a matter of the area being too dry perhaps? It doesn't look like anything sinister, and she's been with her dad who I absolutely trust implicitly.

Any ideas? It only seems to hurt when she wee's (she did and then after about 5 second screamed and cried her bottom hurt, I looked at her bum and she said "No, there!" And pointed closer to her vagina. I tried to have a look for redness incase of a UTI perhaps, and saw the tear just on the outside of the inner labia...

    Thanks!

Could she have had her fingers down there and scratched it? My 15 month old has just discovered her private parts and I've noticed some red scratch type marks there. I've just been putting bepanthen on them and it heals pretty quickly.

She may have scratched it too rough for a simple reason that it was itchy. But also, from my experience as a nanny, toddlers is around when kids discover down there and start to 'explore' a lot. So just be prepared!

My DD had something similar ages ago...she started crying when weeing so I thought she had a UTI. I took her to the dr and he had a look and she had a tear he thinks she scratched herself.

This happened to DD2 a few weeks back. No idea how she did it. The dr said to just put a barrier cream on it so I just used bepanthan and it was better in a couple of days. He said a zinc cream would be best as I was originally using paw paw. Hope that helps

She's just gone in to undies all day and night too, so it's probably the first chance for her to "explore" at her leisure, so makes sense!
