I normally wouldn't spend the money buying 1000TC but Catch of the Day had them for $39.95 a set (queen). So I bought 3 sets. You really don't know what you're missing out on till you sleep in 1000TC sheets! Love them.

I got 400 or 500 tc Sheridan sheets for my kitchen tea years ago.
They're amazing. Very very special.. Wish I could afford more of them, but I'm a quilt cover & duvee freak instead.

I bought some 1200 sheets from spotlight last year. They had a 1-day-50%-off sheets sale, but these sheets had their own special which was a 2 for 1 ... so I bought 2 sets of 1200 counts sheets for $120.
and they are amazing. I certainly can feel the difference
(sorry @Jontu but i cant remember the brand name)

I have also bought 800 tc target and I agree with pp they felt like inferior quality even though they were super expensive.

As previously mentioned, higher thread counts can still vary in quality or be misleading on the packaging. I have thread counts from 250 to 1000 but my favourite are my Sheridan Egyptian Cotton which are 250tc. TRUE egyptian cotton gets better with each time you wash them, ending up with an almost suede feel.
