    1. After birth pains are terribly terribly painful when you have your 2nd (or more) kids.

    2. Midwives recommendations are just that.. Recommendations and you don't bed to follow what they say to a T... Babies aren't books and you have to do what suits!

    2. Bleeding is not always a sign of miscarriage and its extremely common.

    3. It's up to you to know our body during labour, sometimes you won't get listened too and it's up to you to make them listen..

    4. That it's ok to walk away for 5 minutes. If baby is in a safe place (like their cot) it will not hurt them.

    5. That it's ok to not like breast feeding.

Everyone has an opinion on everything to do with pregnancy, childbirth and babies. And not many will line up with your opinions... Learn to just smile and nod..... Just smile and nod..... Lol

A doctor once told me (as a single mum of two) that parenting is a two person job per child. That I was not failing my children because I didn't have the energy to give them more, but that society in general needed to back off and realise that one person can only do so much in a day, and the rest just has to wait.
He said this at a time when I was really feeling like a failure, and his words have stuck with me for years.

That each child is an individual that u will need to get to know.

Breastfed babies feed a lot in the first few weeks and it isn't unusual to be feeding every hour or 2 in the early days

No one is the same. Each pregnancy/labour/birth/baby is individual.
Recovery after birth can be hard and can take weeks....look after yourself and let others help.
If you tear, get stiches, get hemaroids (sp?) etc make sure the midwives inform you how to care for that area and what you can and can't do in the weeks following birth.
Don't get too attached to birth plans- trust your body and instincts at the time of birth.

What a nice thing to say! I like good bedside manner like that.
