I thought something was wrong after having my 2nd baby as the after pains were shocking- nothing at all like what I'd experienced with my first. They woke me up at night and had me doubled over during the day and lasted about a week. Terrible. I mentioned it to the nurses and they just gave me panadeine forte. As far as I know they are more noticable the more babies you have.

Plexus Solaire is right, from my experience the after birth pains got progressively worse with each of my 4 babies. When I had baby no 4, the midwife took one look at me in bed and said 'bad afterbirth pains huh' as I must have been grimacing and then went on to tell me that with each baby the pains worsen and boy, was she right.
I have heard that if you take Magnesium tablets it helps with the pains.
