I just thought I'd post this as DP just had a recent sperm analysis and the numbers were not great. 17 million sperm (the cut of range is 20mil so just under) with 98% abnormal sperm morphology. Motility is fine at 65 and forward progression was quite high.
I'd just like to know what our chances are of becoming pregnant naturally? Is there any hope? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure about chances of falling pg naturally but I would think that doctors will tell you your only option is IVF, as this is what they said to us.
We did IVF for other reasons to get DD and I didn't want to go through it all again. So when DH tests came back with abnormal numbers he went to see an acupuncturist. 2 months later I was pregnant! So I would defiantly recommend that!

Thanks for replying. The urologist said that there was still a chance at becoming pregnant naturally, but I was a bit sceptical so I thought I'd post here. We really would like to avoid the IVF route if possible. Acupuncture is great, I will mention it to DP, thank you.

After 6 months of TTC my DH came back with low motility and morphology and we were told we had a 1% chance of conceiving naturally!
We both went off to the naturopath where he was put on a concoction of herbs and vitamins and lo and behold we got our BFP about three months after he started this regime

We also had this problem though my hubbies results were way more severe than yours - only a month on Chinese herbs and acupuncture and menevit and his second test showed approximate 30% improvement in all 3 areas - my FS was floored! So highly recommend going herbs/acu but you need to find someone who specialises in fertility.

Hi ElastiG - my DH has poor morphology (only 6% normal - and only a small percentage of those were top-grade fast swimmers). We had one natural BFP in 4 years of marriage (I also have low AMH of 3.8).
We have just finished 3 x IUI. Once his sperm were washed during the preparation process (where they remove lots of the dodgy ones) about 30% of the sperm used were excellent morphology. So yes natural BFPs can happen, but I'm thinking they might be pretty rare.
We are now moving on to IVF.
