Happy shoe shopping and happy running! I had no idea what a difference proper shoes made until I bought some. Worth every penny. And now I know which shoe I need, I can buy online next time much cheaper.

Can't say I've ever had neck troubles after running. I agree with Northerly, a physio might be the way to go.

I think I tense my shoulders when I run, but I also have a scoliosis. I am going to try a run with a consciouseffort not to scrunch, but if it happens again will go to a physio

Default Help- A few questions about running. I'm clueless

Def get a good pair of running shoes, athletes foot have those machines you can stand on that show what kind of support you need. The staff are also trained to know what kind of support you need.
I used to get bad shin splints where it even hurt to walk so I went to the Physio and she showed me some exercises to do to strengthen the tiny muscle in the front of your shin which was part of the problem. Basically she gave me this big rubber band and I put my foot in it like a stirrup and then point my toe and rotate it at the same time as pulling up with the other end of the rubber band with your hands for resistance. It fixed my shin splints perfectly!
I am also doing the c25k program and I honestly LOVE it! On Monday I start week 8 which means I have 3 more 28 min runs and then the big 5k finale! The program is very gentle so you may not even get shin splints!
Good luck with it! Keep it up cause it gives you a great feeling of accomplishment each week!

Default Help- A few questions about running. I'm clueless

I also have c25k and like it when I use it. I was using a different workout program and after 2 weeks I think I tried to go too fast (treadmill) and my ankles were sore even walking. So i got expensive shoes from athletes foot but havent really tried again. Has anyone had sore ankles from running???

Not a fan of that Athletes Foot scanner thing. Walking across a mat is nothing like running.

If in Melbourne, check out Active Feet or Footpro. They get you on a treadmill and do a video analysis of your gait which is much more revealing in terms of which shoes are right for you.
