    Some parents don't necessarily agree uni is the time to do that. I was extremely grateful my parents were able to do what they did for me so I was able to make the best start I could at uni. I well and truly stood on my own two feet as a graduate with a good job.

    Completely agree with Sonja, everyone I know who was supported through uni by their parents (including me!) stands on their own two feet very well now. Most of us have families, good jobs and own houses.

    Lol. No way.

    But then, I don't really plan on intentionally leaving anything behind for my kids. I'll help them each buy their first car... and of course if they were homeless or whatever, we'd help out there (by letting them live with us, helping with rent for a while, etc).... but that's about as far as it's going here.
