Yes us teachers tend to have great difficulty when choosing boy's names, thus far the only J name I can stand is Joel. All the rest are completely written off! I really like the name Wesley. I went to school with a Wesley and he was a great guy, but I haven't heard much of the name since. At least not until this year, and that Wesley is pretty cool, calm and collected.

Off your list, I think Wesley is okay, I think Wes is kind of cute too.
In all honesty, Jayden to me is a bogan name, probably by association.
I am put off Xavier as I know 6 of them under 3 yr old (yep 6 friends have had Xaviers in the past 3 yrs) and they ALL get called X-man, so probably for that reason I am a bit over everyone thinking they are original
Trying to think of other names that fit into the kind you seem to like - what about Lewis?

Oh my favouritest student ever was a Joel!

I've been thinking more about this and I think I like Wesley. Wes is cute, and Xavier is becoming far too common I think!

Yeah Xavier has been in the top 10 list for a few years. That doesn't worry me too much though. The girls babe we had picked out if this bub was a girl was Ruby and I know that's ridiculously common too. DD has an uncommon name they. Her name is Imogen and its not a name I hear that often but still 'normal' enough that no one asks me how to pronounce or spell it.

DH is really liking Wesley. I think Wes is a cute Nickname. our surname starts with a lee type sound as well though so I am just worried that first name ending in lee sounds and last name starting with one would strange. I have been saying it out loud today to get a feel for it lol.

I kinda like Wesley. There won't be another one out there! And Wes is a cool nickname, and it would do him well for any career.

Xavier I wouldn't have minded but there are sooo many little Xaviers now.

Jayden not so fond of but then I don't like any of those names that are like Jayden, Jyden, kayden, Kyden.... you get the drift

    Same.
Little bit bias though as the Wesley and Jayden's I've known have been brats
