Thanks Jen. Thats very helpful. Was the lactation consultant with Nurture Co? Adrienne?

No, I saw someone at the hospital that was a LC but I can't remember her name, she gave me the syringes and showed me how to do it (it was all free).
However, I saw Adrienne from nurture co, that day I saw you both, for a bit of extra help with latching!

So... Is there anyone who hasn't had GD?
Do you girls mind if I ask how much weight people have put on? I've put on quite a bit -- about 8-9 kg and only 19+3. I'm tall so I don't look like a heifer just yet but I feel it!

My Kate has put on 10.5 and is 31 weeks. But I think it depends what you were pre pregnancy too.

Thanks TK, I know it varies a lot -- even various things you read can have significantly different ranges. People say 'don't worry about it, you're pregnant' but then I read stuff that says 'be careful not to exceed recommended gain'... I've been eating a bit worse than usual and have been exercising less because I've been so tired -- I have some energy back now though it seems so it's time to get into some good habits!

So far at 27w I've put on 7kg.. My midwife says As long as its a steady gain we shouldn't worry about our weight .. :-)

Betty I put on around 10 by 28 weeks when I was diagnosed with GD, since then I've lost around four so now I've put on around 6 in total.
TK, yep still gotta do the finger pricking right through to end of pregnancy as closer you get to the end the more resistant to insulin your body gets so you might find sugars climbing towards the end. I started not on insulin, then went on insulin and my endocrinologist has increased my insulin maybe 3 times already . Will completely depend on Kate's body, everybody is different but when you go to see the diabetic educator she will explain everything to you guys in detail.

Thanks ladies. We actually saw the nurse lady yesterday. But I still have questions. Were your 2 hr blood glucose test levels very much above the maximums? Kate's were only just over. Are you other ladies being told to express colostrum ready for after birth?
Jen who put you in contact with the Pindara lactation lady? Are you all eating a low GI diet???

Do you mean the GTT result levels or the 2 hour prick after meals?
